Community Service … Marilyn Clough

Sacred Heart Community Service is commencing its drive to fill 3300 backpacks with school supplies which will be distributed August 10. A recent news article stated that at one Silicon Valley school half the students were homeless. Imagine the difficulties these children face trying to do school work. Our chapter has been a sponsor of this drive for years and our contributions are much appreciated. Check out your local Dollar Store for good buys they are featuring right now and bring your donation to our next meeting. Monetary contributions are also welcome. Don’t forget the usual clothing, bedding, towels, and non- perishable food also.

Life Files will also be available at our meeting. I ran out last month as our speaker was very inspirational!

ONESTA WEALTH MANAGEMENT (paid ad) – Rick Loek

My mother worked in the medical field; it was her opinion that

a second opinion was always wise. When is the best time to find out if something should be changed?

Consider scheduling a complimentary review – Find out more today by calling Rick Loek at 408-459-8383.

HINT: if you have a variable annuity it is likely that you’ll benefit from a second opinion.

CONCERT IN THE PARK – FREE — Paddy Wray

Come join us Sunday, July 22, from 2:30 to 4:00. The Lyratones, with the Big Band sound of the 40’s 50’s and 60’s, will be performing at the Pavilion area of Santa Clara Central Park on Kiely Blvd (across the street from the old Kaiser Hospital). The park has sun or shade. Come early and bring your lunch, water, hat, and a lawn chair; stick in a sweater as it can get cool there. You can dance or just sit and enjoy the music. This event has always been fun for our AARP chapter. I’ll be there at noon to save some spaces and can use a couple of more people. Call Paddy at 249-3263 if you can help.

Directions: San Tomas Expressway north to Homestead, turn left and go 3 stoplights to Kiely Blvd. Go right for a short distance. Parking lot is on the right. If no parking is available there, there is another lot north at the Community Center. Food is available at the Safeway Deli and Popeye’s, both on Homestead, Eric’s Deli (across the street from the first parking lot), and Togo’s at Kiely and Benton (one block north of the park).
